Saturday Snapshot: My Baby Shoes

One of the benefits of moving and tackling those final boxes is that I come across a gem like this. These are my baby shoes, that even have the baby ID tag from the hospital in Manila, Philippines looped around the buckle. I didn't wear these on my way home from the hospital, of course, as I wore them when I was a little bigger, but it's nice to have them together like this. I haven't seen these in more than five years. They were in my storage unit that I hadn't looked at until we moved back to Virginia Beach. I had forgotten about them completely.

  1. It is awesome that you still have these! You should have them bronzed.

  3. How sweet and I love the sepia effect you did on the photo. Mine is about significant shoes too. Just for a little older girl. LOL

  10. That is a great shot! What kind of special effects or lighting did you use with it? It looks like something out of an archive.

    1. Thanks! My sister is a true photographer (graceprotzman.com or digitalgraces.com), so I've been trying to learn a lot from her. We experiment a lot with our iPhones, and lately, that's where I actually edit a lot of my photos. There are a few camera apps I use to "layer" the filter of the shots (learned that also from my sister). I'll take the shot, upload it into one app called Camera Noir, adjust the lighting and filters there first, and then upload it to Instagram. Sometimes I'll use Snapseed. When I upload it to my Mac, I'll use picnik.com to add the text, or throw some more filtering on top of that.

My digital camera is getting a bit jealous, so I wil have to return to that soon. But I will usually jump on picnik to make final editing.

  17. Artistic shot and the tag is a good remembrance of where you were born. Very feminine.
Our first shoes were much different; they would have been white leather boots that laced up for learning to walk.

  18. Adorable.
Those shoes are made for walkin'!
Well, or maybe -- crawl, walk a bit, crawl, walk a bit, fall down, walk a bit....
